Madhura Lotlikar

PhD Student

Integrate Program of Neuroscience
McGill University

Madhura received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in India before completing a Master’s in Molecular Biology at the University of Southern California. Before joining the Memory Lab, Madhura worked for 2 years as a research assistant in an Alzheimer’s disease lab at the Harvard Medical School. Her Ph.D. research is focused on the interaction between sleep, exercise, and memory. One of her projects will evaluate the potential of regular aerobic exercise training to increase resilience to the negative effects of sleep deprivation. She also aims to determine whether acute aerobic exercise or napping is better to restore memory systems after sleep deprivation. Outside of school, Madhura enjoys communicating science to the public, photography, reading, kayaking, and playing the tabla, a classical Indian percussion instrument.
