Bernat de Las Heras
School of Physical & Occupational Therapy
Bernat is a student from McGill University. He was fast-tracked to the PhD program after only 1 year of pursuing his Master’s of Science in Rehabilitation Science. Bernat graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science from Girona University (Spain) in 2014. After graduation he worked for 3 years as a Strength and Conditioning coach where he accumulated expertise in sports rehabilitation and performance. His current research project, funded by Le Réseau Provincial de Recherche en Adaptation-Réadaptation (REPAR) and the Canadian Partnership for Stroke Recovery CPSR, investigates the relationship between genotype, stroke and brain plasticity. The study will show that the genotype influences the response to exercise, providing both clinicians and patients with valuable information for a more personalized rehabilitation plan in early stages of stroke recovery.
