Fotini Michalakis

PhD Student

School of Physical & Occupational Therapy
McGill University

Fotini has a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Neuroscience and History, and a minor in Modern Greek, from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Before joining the Memory Lab, she worked as a clinical research technician at a neurodegenerative diseases lab (i.e., Parkinson’s disease, progressive supranuclear palsy) at the University of Michigan Medicine, investigating how brain architecture and function determine cognitive and motor functioning. Her Ph.D. research is focused on different exercise modalities and the effects on sleep, and if these changes mediate improvements in motor and cognitive function, and other non-motor symptoms (i.e., fatigue, quality of life), for people with Parkinson’s disease.
